About the Founder

Melissa LaPointe | Consultant, Educator, Program Strategist

I’m an occupational therapist turned consultant, adult educator, and performance coach. With over 15 years of experience in healthcare, entrepreneurship, and education, I bring a systems-aware, values-driven approach to leadership development and program strategy.

Today, I’m the founder and principal consultant of Rogue Consulting Group, where we partner with purpose-led professionals and organizations to design, deliver, and strengthen programs that make a lasting difference—in people’s lives, in communities, and across systems.

Early Roots in Rural Healthcare

My professional journey began in 2005 when I moved from the East Coast of Canada to rural British Columbia to begin my career as a pediatric occupational therapist. Working in early intervention with a non-profit organization, I supported families through sensory processing challenges, developmental trauma, and mental health concerns.

As a rural generalist, I wore many hats—blending direct service, caregiver coaching, community health promotion, and consulting on provincial initiatives in child and family development. This work shaped my understanding of systems, equity, and the creative resilience required in underserved regions.

When Personal Experience Becomes Professional Fuel

In 2012, I stepped away from my early intervention role after experiencing firsthand the gaps in maternal health support. Drawing on my background in brain development and training as a doula, I developed my own postpartum recovery plan—one that revealed how siloed and inaccessible perinatal care can be.

This sparked a new direction. In 2013, I launched Strong Beginnings Family Wellness, blending maternal health education with pediatric therapy and consulting services. I was sleep-deprived, under-resourced, and learning entrepreneurship in real time—but I believed deeply in what I was building.

Growing from the Inside-Out

Operations Consulting and Performance Coaching

The last couple of years have been about finding my groove as a consultant, a team leader and a CEO.

I love helping my clients to get the right systems and operations in place so they can streamline the chaos and have a bigger impact with their work.

While I continue to work with business owners from all over the world, I've also been doing more in-person consulting work with organizations and healthcare professionals in my hometown.

I truly have the best of both worlds in how I'm able to work with my people. And I'd love for you to join me on this journey!

From Small Town to Global Reach

As a solo founder with a toddler by my side, I embraced flexibility and creativity. I offered prenatal workshops, mom-and-baby groups, and postpartum consultations—all while experimenting with ways to bring this work online.

In 2015, I launched my first digital course: An Integrative Approach to Perinatal Health, designed for occupational therapists. It reached practitioners in over 10 countries and sparked my love of adult education, community building, and curriculum design. That course planted the seed for everything that followed.
